Austin FC defender Jon Gallagher became the Club's second player to compete in the MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday night, captaining the MLS All-Star team for the second half of a defeat to English Premier League side Arsenal FC. In 45 minutes on the pitch at right back, Gallagher recorded an 86.7% pass success rate, two tackles won, six duels, and one foul drawn.
"The validation, it is rewarding and it's great to be a part of this, come play with the best in the league. I owe a lot to Josh [Wolff] and the coaching staff," said Gallagher of the experience ahead of the game.
Gallagher's All-Star 2023 season so far sees him leading all MLS defenders with five goals and leading Austin FC in tackles with 19. His four assists rank second on the team as well.
