Austin FC Outlook
Austin FC fell 1-0 against Portland Timbers last Saturday night at Providence Park. In a very even game in which Austin battled well, the team was unlucky not to come away with a point when Portland broke through in the 89th minute from a free kick.
The VERDE & Black now shift their focus to Colorado this Saturday night for their second home game of the regular season. Austin fans will fondly remember the electric win last year against Colorado in the final match of 2024, including two goals in extra time by Brendan Hines-Ike and Ethan Finlay to claim all three (3) points.
Austin FC will strive to regain momentum in front of its home fans and claim an early season spot near the top of the standings before next week’s road trip to LAFC.
Colorado Rapids Outlook
Colorado finished in seventh place in the Western Conference in 2024, falling to eventual champions LA Galaxy in the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs. The Rapids had a busy start to this year, already playing four competitive matches in 2025 including two in the Concacaf Champions Cup.
In MLS play, Colorado is coming off a 3-3 draw at home against FC Dallas last weekend. Rafael Navarro scored a brace and Keegan Rosenberry added another to help the Rapids split the points with the visitors. It was the team’s second consecutive draw to begin the MLS regular season.
Austin will look to keep Colorado’s dangerous attacking line at bay to secure three points at home.
