Austin FC fell 5-1 against Vancouver Whitecaps FC last Saturday evening, with Austin’s goal coming via a quality long-range strike by Dani Pereira in the 90th minute. Brad Stuver made a total of six saves, including a penalty kick save on Daniel Ríos in the 72nd minute.
Austin FC is currently sitting in sixth place in the MLS Western Conference, with a record of 4-1-3. Austin now turns their attention to LA Galaxy. The last time the two met at Q2 Stadium in April 2024, the VERDE & Black shutout LA 2-0, with goals from Diego Rubio and Jáder Obrian in the first half.
The VERDE & Black will look to turn the corner following the Vancouver result and gain three points at home to build the momentum ahead of its first Copa Tejas match of the season against Houston Dynamo FC next weekend.
LA Galaxy Outlook
LA Galaxy currently sits at the bottom of the table in the Western Conference with a record of 0-5-3. Two of their three draws came on the road earlier in the season.
LA Galaxy tied 1-1 with Houston Dynamo at home this past weekend. The Galaxy were already trailing 1-0 when they went down to 10 men in the first half, as defender Mathias Jørgensen was shown a straight red in the 28th minute. Despite a difficult start in the first half, LA was able to find the equalizer in the 56th minute.
LA Galaxy will look to turn their luck around and make an impact to start climbing the table.
