Austin FC Outlook
Austin FC shut out LAFC last Saturday afternoon at BMO Stadium, becoming the first visiting team to score or earn a result at the venue in 2025. Austin took an early lead and defended resolutely throughout, with Guilherme Biro’s header off Owen Wolff’s second assist of the season holding up as the game’s only goal. Jon Gallagher did well to limit opportunities for LAFC winger Denis Bouanga and earned a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday for his efforts.
The VERDE & Black now set their sights on MLS newcomers San Diego FC as they make their way to Texas for the first time. San Diego will get a taste of what it’s like to play at Q2 Stadium in one of the league’s best atmospheres.
Having secured their first road victory of the season, Austin will look to build off that momentum and reward the home crowd with three points for the second consecutive week.
San Diego FC Outlook
San Diego has had a strong start to its inaugural season led by Head Coach Mikey Varas, currently sitting in second place in the Western Conference with two wins and two draws. San Diego made waves last year signing Hirving “Chucky” Lozano as the Club’s first Designated Player, but it has been Danish attacker Anders Dreyer has been the team’s talisman so far with three goals in four games.
Last time out, San Diego drew 1-1 at home against Columbus Crew. After falling behind in the 13th minute, SDFC continued to look for the equalizer and found it just eight minutes after the Crew were reduced to 10 men in the 61st minute.
Austin will look to end San Diego’s perfect road record. Thus far, SDFC has won both its road matches, defeating defending champions LA Galaxy 2-0 and beating Real Salt Lake 3-1.
