Austin FC Outlook

Austin FC beat LA Galaxy 1-0 last Saturday afternoon, with Brandon Vazquez scoring the game winning goal late in the 81st minute. Myrto Uzuni nearly scored the team’s goal of the season thus far when he attempted a bicycle kick that went just over the bar earlier in the match. Thanks to the team’s league-leading fifth shutout of the season though, Vazquez’s goal was enough to secure three points.

Austin FC is currently sitting in second place in the MLS Western Conference, with a record of 5-1-3. Austin now turns their attention to Houston Dynamo FC for the first Copa Tejas match of the season. Last year, Austin claimed two out of the three matchups including one away at Shell Energy Stadium.

The VERDE & Black will look to make it back-to-back wins and cement their position near the top of the table ahead of a busy month of May.

Houston Dynamo FC Outlook

Houston Dynamo FC currently sits in 14th place in the Western Conference with a record of 1-4-4. Houston’s sole win of the season came against LAFC earlier this month, by a 1-0 scoreline at home.

Houston tied 2-2 with Colorado Rapids at home this past weekend. Houston opened the scoring through forward Amine Bassi in the 42nd minute. Colorado found the equalizer early in the second half and eventually took the lead in the 77th minute, but deep in second half stoppage time, newly signed DP Ondřej Lingr tied in the 96th minute on his Dynamo debut.

Lingr, a Czech international attacking midfielder who arrived from Slavia Prague, is sure to offer Houston’s attack a boost.
