Austin FC Outlook
Austin FC fell 1-0 against Colorado Rapids last Saturday night at Q2 Stadium. Colorado took an early lead in the first half, and Austin responded by turning up the heat in search of the equalizer. The VERDE & Black came close on several occasions, including when Myrto Uzuni’s header hit the crossbar and when two separate penalty kick decisions were overturned by VAR, but ultimately the visitors walked away with three points. Despite the defeat, Austin ended the match with significant advantages in possession, shots on target, and expected goals.
The VERDE & Black now set their eyes on their next opponent, LAFC this Saturday afternoon for their second away game of the regular season. The last time the two met was back in September when Austin took a trip to the Golden State. Jáder Obrian found the back of the net to secure a point on the road in that match, and the teams also drew at Q2 Stadium last season.
Austin FC will look to kickstart momentum this weekend as they battle to secure their first road victory of the season.
LAFC Outlook
LAFC has had a busy start to their 2025 season participating in its third Concacaf Champions Cup. In MLS play, LAFC is currently sitting in fifth place in the Western Conference with two wins and one loss.
LAFC have a short turnaround after advancing to the Concacaf Champions Cup Quarterfinals on Tuesday night, falling 2-1 against Columbus Crew but winning the series 4-2 on aggregate. Winger Denis Bouanga has been crucial for LA, scoring three goals in both legs vs. Columbus.
Austin will look to prevent Bouanga and offseason signing Jeremy Ebobisse from scoring while also breaking down a tough LAFC defense that has not yet allowed a goal at home in four matches this season.
