Austin FC fell in a 2-0 defeat to Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday night at Shell Energy Stadium.
Austin had the better chances in the first half. Though Maxi Urruti hit the bar, and Jon Gallagher and Emiliano Rigoni tested Houston goalkeeper Steve Clark, the teams entered halftime scoreless.
Houston took the lead in the 71st-minute from the penalty spot, with Amine Bassi scoring for the hosts. As the Verde & Black pushed forward in search of an equalizer, Houston found its second goal of the night through Hector Herrera to put the result out of reach for Austin.
