Austin FC lost 2-0 to the LA Galaxy on Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Both teams had chances in the first half. A smart defensive header from Leo Väisänen denied the hosts an early goal, and Ethan Finlay had his close-range effort stopped by LA goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann. Sebastián Driussi put the ball in the net seconds before halftime, but the goal was disallowed for a marginal offside in the buildup.
The Galaxy took the lead in the 54th-minute through Javier Hernández, who found space in the box and finished to the far post. Riqui Puig doubled LA’s advantage 10 minutes later, applying the final touch on a counterattack.
Goal-Scoring Summary
