Austin FC’s Alex Ring was named to the Major League Soccer (MLS) Team of the Matchday, with Maxi Urruti named to the Team of the Matchday bench following Austin’s 1-0 win over CF Montréal on Saturday night at Q2 Stadium. Ring and Urruti both earn their first Team of the Matchday selections of the season.
Ring posted an impressive performance while playing at center back. He made seven (7) recoveries, five (5) interceptions, four (4) clearances and a block to help Austin keep its first shutout of the 2023 season, while also passing at an 86 percent success rate.
Urruti entered the match as a 76th-minute substitute and scored the match-winning goal 12 minutes later, popping up in the penalty area to poke in a headed cross from Jon Gallagher. The goal was Urruti’s 70th in MLS, his 25th match-winner (second-most among active players), and his 10th with Austin FC.
