On Wednesday night under the lights at Parmer Field, Austin FC II will host Minnesota United FC 2 in search of a third consecutive victory. The match is set to kick off at 8:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
Austin FC II Outlook
As the season enters its homestretch, Austin is beginning to build momentum. Head Coach Brett Uttley’s side has won each of its last two matches, a 2-0 road result against SKC II followed by a thrilling 4-3 comeback at home vs. Colorado last Friday night.
CJ Fodrey and Jimmy Farkarlun continued to showcase their partnership against Rapids 2. Fodrey has scored four goals in his last three matches, and Farkarlun has assisted all four of them. Sébastien Pineau provided late game heroics by scoring in the 90th and 93rd minutes.
After its back-to-back wins, ATXFC II is now only four points below the playoff line. The Verde & Black also have the added boost of having played either one or two less matches than just about every team around them in the table.
MNUFC2 Outlook
Minnesota is in last place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference with 19 points from 21 matches. The Loons have lost four of their last five games, most recently dropping a 3-1 decision against Houston Dynamo 2 last Sunday night.
MNUFC2 did manage to pick up two points from its earlier meeting with Austin this season, winning the penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in Minnesota. The team has struggled on the road, winning two out of 10 games away in 2024.
Patrick Weah is MNUFC2’s top scorer with eight goals to his name, while Britton Fischer tops the assists category with three.
