Austin FC II Fights To High-Scoring Draw With North Texas SC

Austin FC II fought to a road draw in a back-and-forth battle against in-state rivals North Texas SC on Saturday night at Choctaw Stadium. The match finished 3-3 after 90 minutes, and NTSC won the ensuing penalty shootout 5-3.

The hosts took the lead in the 12th minute but the Verde & Black responded just one minute later to equalize, as Sébastien Pineau netted his team-high fourth goal of the season. ATXFC II then went ahead themselves before halftime when Antonio Gomez headed in a cross from Rubén Bonachera.

Momentum swung back in North Texas' favor in the second half as they grabbed goals in the 60th and 79th minutes to go up 3-2. Austin found yet another game-tying goal in the dying moments though, forcing a North Texas own goal in the 89th minute to ensure they would take home a point.
