During the September international window, one Austin FC player and two Austin FC II players represented their home nations on the pitch.
Julio Cascante, Costa Rica
Defender Julio Cascante earned his second and third career appearances with Costa Rica. He leapt like a salmon to score his first international goal with a powerful header in a friendly against the United Arab Emirates on September 12 in Croatia.
The Puerto Limón native also started and played the full 90 minutes in Costa Rica’s 3-1 friendly victory over Saudi Arabia in the United Kingdom.
Bobosi Byaruhanga, Uganda
Byaruhanga played 89 minutes in Uganda’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualification match, earning his 16th career cap. The Cranes won 2-0 against Niger in Morocco but fell one point shy of qualifying for AFCON this winter.
The 21-year-old Byaruhanga drew three fouls, made four interceptions, and completed a successful dribble during the game.
Micah Burton, United States U-17
Burton and the U.S. U-17s took part in the Vaclav Ježek Cup, playing three matches against Ukraine, Switzerland, and the hosts Czech Republic. Burton started in the middle match against Switzerland.
