La Federación Puertorriqueña de Fútbol (the Puerto Rican Football Federation) announced the Puerto Rican U-16 Youth National Team roster for the upcoming Sub-16 UNCAF Tournament, with Austin FC Academy goalkeeper Nico Aristizabal one of the 20 players called up.
Aristizabal will join the Puerto Rican U-16 Youth National Team from May 17-25 in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The team will play matches against U-16 national sides from Panama (May 17), Honduras (May 19), and Nicaragua (May 21).
Aristizabal, 15, currently competes with the Austin FC U-17 team. He was a key contributor to the Austin FC U-15 side which won the 2023 Generation adidas Cup, anchoring a defense which allowed only two goals in seven matches. Aristizabal saved two penalty kicks in the GA Cup semifinal shootout and made the decisive penalty kick save to win the tournament final.
