From April 9 to 17, the Austin FC U-17 and U-15 teams will compete at the 2022 Generation adidas Cup, an elite youth tournament featuring MLS and professional club academies from around the globe. A total of 80 professional academies from 10 countries across four (4) continents will compete in U-17 and U-15 tournament play at the Toyota Soccer Center at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
“The Generation adidas Cup features some of the best young soccer players from all over the world, and is a great chance for our Austin FC Academy teams to test themselves and compete at the top level,” said Austin FC Academy General Manager Tyson Wahl. “We look forward to the experience of playing against clubs from outside the United States.”
In group play, Austin FC U-17 will face Santos Laguna (Mexico), Seattle Sounders FC, and Charlotte FC, while Austin FC U-15 is set to line up against Celtic FC (Scotland), Sporting Kansas City, and Seattle Sounders FC. Each team is guaranteed to play four (4) further matches, against opponents which will be determined by group stage results.
More than 30 games throughout the Generation adidas Cup will be streamed live on Twitch and YouTube. Additional GA Cup broadcast details, including the schedule of games featured, will be announced in advance of the tournament.
