Austin FC fell 2-0 to LAFC away at BMO Stadium on Wednesday night in the Leagues Cup Round of 32.
Austin created a couple of opportunities early in the first half, but eventually LAFC broke through in the 11th minute, with striker Denis Bouanga finding the back of the net. The Verde & Black trailed at halftime despite having the better chances to score and controlling possession.
ATXFC continued to push to stay in the game in the second half, and Brad Stuver made a massive save in the 52nd minute. Cristian Olivera eventually doubled LAFC’s lead in the 61st minute though to put the game out of reach for Austin.
Austin returns to MLS play on August 24th against Nashville SC, the first of nine (9) remaining regular season matches.
