Austin FC’s Unified Team took part in its first-ever tournament on May 10 and 11, competing in the Unified Tejas Cup Tournament hosted by FC Dallas. The team traveled north to face Unified Teams from both Houston and Dallas, gaining a new level of competitive experience.
The Verde & Black Unified team earned a tie against FC Dallas Unified and fell 2-0 to Houston Dynamo Unified. Despite the results, it was a moment to celebrate a milestone for the team.
The Austin FC Unified team has its next match on September 28, when it will host Real Salt Lake Unified for a match at Q2 Stadium on September 28, directly after the Austin FC and Real Salt Lake MLS sides meet.
The Austin FC Unified team comprises Special Olympics Athletes and Unified Partners. The Club is proud to continue to help foster a safe, competitive, inclusive and fun space for Special Olympics Athletes with intellectual disabilities and Unified Partners without disabilities.
