In Austin FC’s three-year history, the Club has sent two players to the Major League Soccer All-Star Game to be showcase alongside their fellow top players in the league. Captain Sebastián Driussi was part of the MLS All-Star team that defeated the Liga MX All-Stars 2-1 in Minnesota in 2022, and Jon Gallagher joined forces with MLS’ best in Washington D.C. last summer.
Take a look back at the performances that got Driussi and Gallagher to the All-Star Game, and remember that voting for the 2024 MLS All-Star Game opens soon.
Sebastián Driussi
Driussi’s 2022 season was one to remember. In addition to propelling him to the All-Star Game, Driussi finished second in Landon Donovan MLS Most Valuable Player voting, was voted to the MLS Best XI, was named MLS Player of the Month twice and to the MLS Team of the Week 11 times.
His 22 goals and 29 goal contributions during the 2022 regular season ranked second and third most in the league, respectively. He added three (3) goals in three (3) MLS Cup Playoff matches, leading the Verde & Black to the Western Conference Final.
Jon Gallagher
Gallagher converted to right back in 2023 but had the best attacking season of his career, finishing with the joint-most goals among all MLS defenders (five) and chipping in eight assists as well.
Those 13 goal contributions were the second most for Austin FC throughout the season. The season was validation of years of hard work for Gallagher, who went down in Austin history for scoring the team’s first-ever goal at Q2 Stadium back in 2021. Gallagher is Austin FC’s all-time appearances leader among outfield players with 115 across all competitions.
