Austin FC continued its AISD en Verde program at St. Elmo Elementary on March 7 with a visit from Verde & Black winger CJ Fodrey (who previously visited Padron Elementary), goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland and Verdisimo. Fodrey and Cleveland engaged with St. Elmo’s 5th grade class and after-school soccer participants around Literacy advocacy, where they amplified important school values such as teamwork and honesty. After spending time with Fodrey and Cleveland, the kids were able to enjoy yummy treats from GoodPop who provided complimentary ice pops during the visit.
“Austin FC visit was a life-changing motivational moment for our students. They were able to listen to and learn from two young players in a meaningful and fun way.” said St. Elmo Elementary School Principal, Ben McCormack. “We are so grateful to Austin FC, and everyone who made this such a special day for us.”
AISD en Verde was established to serve Central Texas Title 1 Elementary schools, with a focus on inspiring kids to develop a passion for reading. The program includes books donated through the support of Black Pearl Books to the school library and an opportunity for students to experience an ATXFC match in Q2 Stadium.
