La Federación Venezolana de Fútbol (the Venezuelan Football Federation) today announced the list of players called up to the Venezuela Men’s National Team for its upcoming friendlies against Italy (March 21) and Guatemala (March 24), with Austin FC midfielder Dani Pereira named in the squad. Pereira will join Venezuela for the two (2) matches taking place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Pereira, 23, made his debut for the Venezuelan Senior Men’s National Team on June 15, 2023, coming on as a substitute in the team’s 1-0 win over Honduras. He made his first international start three (3) days later in a 1-0 win over Guatemala. In December 2023, Pereira was called up to the Venezuela U-23 Men’s National Team for its December 10 match vs. Colombia in Miami, Florida.
Since Austin FC selected Pereira with the first overall pick of the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, he has made 92 appearances for the Club across the MLS regular season and playoffs, recording two (2) goals and 12 assists. In 2023, he tied for the team lead with eight (8) assists, while leading Austin in completed passes (1,338), duels (321), and interceptions (32). In 2024, Pereira has started both of Austin’s MLS regular season matches to date.
