La Federación Costarricense de Fútbol (the Costa Rican Football Federation) today announced its roster for the November FIFA international window, with Austin FC defender Julio Cascante named to the squad for two (2) Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinal matches against Panama.
The first leg will take place at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa Aymá in San José, Costa Rica on November 16, and the second at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama on November 20.
Cascante, 30, joined Austin FC ahead of the Club’s inaugural season in 2021 and signed a contract extension through the end of the 2025 season in April 2023. He has made 87 MLS appearances for Austin across the regular season and playoffs, contributing seven (7) goals and 10 assists. His seven (7) goal contributions in the 2022 season were tied for the most among all MLS center backs.
The native of Puerto Limón, Costa Rica has made three (3) previous appearances for his country, most recently against Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) in September. Cascante played the full 90 minutes in both matches and scored his first international goal against the U.A.E. on September 12.
