Austin FC Outlook
Last time out, Emiliano Rigoni’s 86th minute goal helped the team to a 1-0 win against Texas rivals Houston Dynamo FC. CJ Fodrey flicked on Brad Stuver’s long pass to create the goal, the 20-year-old's first career MLS assist. Stuver made six saves in total, keeping his second clean sheet of the season and earning a place on the MLS Team of the Matchday.
Having now won three out of its last four matches, the team looks to continue building momentum this weekend in front of the Verde faithful. If Austin is able to secure a third consecutive home win, it could rise as high as third place in the Western Conference.
Saturday’s atmosphere at Q2 Stadium promises to be electric, as 20,000 green and black YETI t-shirts will be handed out to create a full stadium visual effect.
While this is the first regular season meeting between Austin and the Galaxy in 2024, the two teams met during preseason at the Coachella Valley Invitational back in February with Austin winning 3-1.
LA Galaxy Outlook
LA Galaxy heads to Austin coming off a 4-3 victory over San Jose Earthquakes at home last Saturday. All four goals of the team’s goals were scored by four different LA Galaxy players. With four wins in their last five matches overall, LA finds itself leading the Western Conference at this early stage of the season.
After missing the playoffs in 2023, the Galaxy are the only team in MLS this season to score in each of their first nine matches. LA currently have a 3-1-1 away record and 5-3-1 overall record this season.
LA tends to apply the pressure late in the game. Its tally of 13 goals scored in the second half of matches this season is currently tied for first in the league with Inter Miami CF. It will be up to the Verde & Black to shut down LA’s attempt to push forward in the last 45.
