Austin FC Outlook

After falling against Real Salt Lake prior to the international break, Austin turns its attention to an opportunity to bounce back to winning ways against Colorado. Austin currently sits in 6th place in the Western Conference, above the playoff line and within five points of fourth place as they travel west this weekend.

Verde & Black fans will fondly remember trips to Colorado in 2021 and 2022. In April 2021, Austin earned the first win in Club history at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and won there again in July 2022.

This match will be the first of three games in eight days. Claiming the three points on offer in Colorado would build valuable momentum for Austin before the team returns home Wednesday night to face LAFC.

Colorado Rapids Outlook

Colorado Rapids is currently in eighth place in the MLS Western Conference with a record of 6-4-7. Before the break, the Rapids fell to Vancouver Whitecaps FC, 2-1, at BC Place.

Colorado’s sole goal in that match came from Djordje Mihailovic in the 50th minute. The USMNT midfielder has scored in back-to-back matches for the Rapids and has five goals and four assists to his name this season. Rafael Navarro tops the team’s scoring charts with nine goals.

Colorado is winless in its last four matches, recording its last victory on May 15 against Vancouver at home. Those matches tended to be high scoring, averaging 5.25 total goals per contest. If Austin can find a way to unbalance the Rapids’ backline, they’ll give themselves a good chance to earn a result on the road.
