Austin FC’s opening preseason match at the 2025 Coachella Valley Invitational ended in a 1-1 draw against LA Galaxy on Wednesday afternoon.
LA opened the scoring after eight (8) minutes through winger Gabriel Pec, who tapped in a cross from Ruben Ramos Jr. The Verde & Black tested the Galaxy goalkeeper on three (3) occasions later in the first half as Dani Pereira, Leo Väisänen, and Brandon Vazquez all had quality chances saved.
Austin found an equalizer from a corner kick in the 79th minute. Owen Wolff set up the chance by cleverly beating his man down the flank, and his ball into the box created confusion in the Galaxy defense. Osman Bukari was there to clean up a loose ball and tie the game. CJ Fodrey nearly gave Austin the lead three (3) minutes later with a shot off the crossbar.
The Verde & Black are back in preseason action on Saturday against St. Louis City SC. The match will stream live on austinfc.com.
