Austin FC fell 2-0 against Colorado Rapids on Saturday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Brad Stuver made an early save in the 3rd minute, but Colorado’s midfielder Cole Bassett eventually found the back of the net in the 22nd minute to take the lead. The Rapids attempted to double their lead in the 41st minute but a massive save by Stuver keeps the score 1-0 to end the half.
The Verde & Black started the second half in search of the equalizer, but Rapids’ defender Rafael Navarro adds to their lead in the 49th minute. Austin FC were denied a penalty opportunity in the 59th minute when a long distance strike from Sebastian Driussi appeared to strike the hand of Rapids’ defender Lalas Abubakar, however, the referee waived play on.
Austin will look to reset as they head back to Austin for mid-week action against LAFC, Wednesday night.
