Austin FC fell 2-1 to FC Dallas Saturday night at Toyota Stadium.
FC Dallas opened the scoring early with a left footed goal from Petar Musa in the 4th minute. Despite falling behind early, Austin put their opponents under plenty of pressure for the remainder of the match, out-shooting, out-passing, and out-possessing Dallas. Guilherme Biro came close to equalizing in the 39th minute with a strike from distance that hit the post.
Although the Verde & Black continued to control the flow of the game in the second half, Jesús Ferreira doubled Dallas’ lead in the 56th minute from a counterattack.
Austin earned a lifeline in the 84th minute when Owen Wolff won a penalty kick, which Sebastián Driussi converted to halve the deficit. The team continued to push for the tying goal in the final minutes, but ultimately came up just short.
Austin now shifts its attention to back-to-back home games next week, beginning with Houston Dynamo FC on Wednesday night at Q2 Stadium.
