Austin FC fell 2-1 to LA Galaxy on Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park. Austin’s goal on the night came from Sebastián Driussi, his 50th for the Club in all competitions. Driussi becomes the first player in Club history to reach that milestone.
In an even first half, both teams went in search of an opening goal. LA Galaxy’s Gabriel Pec came close in the 16th minute but Brad Stuver made a crucial save to keep him at bay. 15 minutes later though, Pec was able to give the hosts the lead. LA had a chance to double their lead in in the 44th minute when they were awarded a penalty, but a video review overturned the referee’s call on the field.
Driussi equalized for Austin in the 55th minute with an authoritative finish in the box off Osman Bukari’s assist. The Verde & Black pushed forward as the match went on, in search of a winning goal to keep their playoff chances alive. But as they did so, LA found a second goal of their own through Dejan Joveljic to clinch the points for the Galaxy.
