Austin FC fell 2-0 to Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night at Children’s Mercy Park.

Austin looked to find their footing early in the match when Jáder Obrian curled a shot wide. Sporting KC eventually took the lead in the 26th minute via a Tim Leibold shot that took a big deflection on its way in.

Stephen Afrifa then doubled the hosts’ lead on the other side of halftime, finishing a low cross from Johnny Russell. Austin returns home next Saturday to face NYCFC, the first of three (3) league matches at Q2 Stadium in July.
