The Ukrainian Football Association today announced that Austin FC center back Oleksandr Svatok has been called up to the Ukraine men’s national team for UEFA Nations League matches vs. Georgia and Czechia later this month.
Svatok and Ukraine will face Georgia on Friday, October 11 and Czechia on Monday, October 14, with both matches to be played in Poland. This past summer, Svatok represented Ukraine at UEFA EURO 2024, most notably playing 81 minutes in a shutout draw against No. 6-ranked Belgium. In total, Svatok has made seven (7) appearances for Ukraine at the senior international level in addition to 40 appearances across youth national teams levels.
Svatok made his Austin FC and MLS debut on September 18, 2024 and has played four (4) times for the Verde & Black since joining as a summer signing. He registered five (5) clearances and three (3) blocks in the team’s 1-0 away win over Portland on Wednesday night.
