Austin FC midfielder Dani Pereira was voted to the Major League Soccer (MLS) Team of the Matchday, with winger Jáder Obrian named to the Team of the Matchday bench following the team’s 3-2 home win over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night at Q2 Stadium. Obrian earns his second Team of the Matchday honor of 2024, while Pereira earns his first.
Pereira put in an all-action display on Saturday. He played an instrumental role in the team’s first goal, intercepting a pass from SKC goalkeeper Tim Melia before having the presence of mind to find Obrian open in the box. The Venezuelan international then assisted Obrian for his second goal as well. In addition to his two (2) assists, Pereira registered game highs in chances created (four) and successful dribbles (four) while winning seven (7) duels.
Obrian’s goals in the 28th and 39th minutes helped Austin FC climb out of an early deficit. Both were composed finishes from within the penalty area. The brace was Obrian’s second game this season with multiple goal contributions, and the Colombian now has four (4) goals and one (1) assist in his last four (4) home matches.
