Austin FC forward Diego Rubio was voted to the Major League Soccer (MLS) Team of the Matchday bench for his role in the team’s 1-0 away win over Minnesota United FC on Saturday night at Allianz Field. Rubio earns his first Team of the Matchday honor of 2024.
Rubio scored the game’s only goal, reacting first to a loose ball in the box and finishing past Minnesota goalkeeper Clint Irwin. The goal was Rubio’s fourth of the season. He also won 6 out of 9 duels, all three (3) of his attempted tackles, and completed a successful dribble.
