With the 2025 Major League Soccer schedule now released, the path for the Verde & Black to earn in-state bragging rights is clear. After lifting Copa Tejas in 2022 and 2023, respectively, Austin FC will have four matches against its local rivals to reclaim the top position within state lines in 2025.
While the Verde & Black will need to wait a bit to get Copa Tejas going in earnest, Austin FC officially begins its quest when they travel to take on Houston on April 26 for the tenth match of their regular season. Both of the Verde and Black’s Lone Star State battles at Q2 Stadium will take place within the span of a week during a busy August. On back-to-back weekends, Austin will host Houston (August 9) and FC Dallas (August 16).
Victories in the two matches at Q2 Stadium would put the Verde & Black in a strong position heading into Austin's final Copa Tejas showdown, as they prepare for a tough road test at Dallas on September 13.
