During four Austin FC home matches in August, the Club’s nonprofit arm 4ATX Foundation partnered with Academy Sports + Outdoors to host an equipment drive, collecting new and gently used soccer equipment from Austin FC fans. On Wednesday, September 28, the organizations teamed up to host an equipment donation and field trip event at Q2 Stadium for 100 students from Decker Elementary School.
Students were bussed from their school to the stadium and upon arrival, were split into small groups and shown the pitch, locker rooms, and more. The stadium tour concluded with a pizza lunch, where each student received a $50 gift card to Academy Sports + Outdoors, and a brand-new pair of new soccer cleats paid for by 4ATX Foundation.
The students also had the chance to meet Austin FC Felipe Martins and ask questions about the experience of being a professional soccer player. Together, 4ATX Foundation and Academy Sports + Outdoors donated $12,752 worth of soccer equipment to Decker Elementary School students.
