AUSTIN, Texas – 4ATX Foundation, the philanthropic extension of Austin FC, announced today that it has joined forces with Austin Parks Foundation to install soccer nets at a variety of soccer facilities throughout Austin as part of an ongoing commitment to enhance soccer-playing infrastructure and increase soccer-playing activity across all age-levels and all neighborhoods in Austin.
Starting in late 2019, 4ATX Foundation and Austin Parks Foundation will install ten (10) new soccer nets in an initial set of publicly accessible East Austin locations, including Tillery Fields, Edward Rendon Sr. Park at Festival Beach and Delwood Sports Complex in Bartholomew District Park.
The initial set of nets will be provided and installed by 4ATX Foundation and Austin Parks Foundation, plus a series of replacement nets will also be donated to assist with future maintenance needs. The net installation initiative will be expanded over time.
“This collaborative grassroots project will help beautify public spaces while also providing greater access for all age ranges, from young people to adults, to enjoy our sport,” said Andy Loughnane, 4ATX Foundation Board Member and Austin FC President. “We are honored and grateful to work alongside Austin Parks Foundation to directly benefit the community. We look forward to developing similar project opportunities in the future.”
“At APF, our goal is to make our public parks and greenspaces better by partnering with our community,” said Colin Wallis, CEO of Austin Parks Foundation. "An integral part of this work is improving spaces that encourage physical activity. We're thrilled to partner with Austin FC to provide new and much-needed amenities to our local soccer fields and we’re excited to see more people playing soccer and enjoying Austin’s parks.”
