In Austin, the love for soccer runs deep. It’s passionate, it’s intense, and in a community that has embraced Austin FC like few cities anywhere in the world have embraced their professional clubs, it starts early.
One of the driving forces for that phenomena is 4ATX Foundation, which is on a mission to create opportunities for youth to learn and grow, on and off the soccer pitch. In partnership with Swish Dental, 4ATX Foundation recently provided a no-cost experience for 40 local youth to attend soccer camp at the Northeast Family YMCA from Aug. 9-12
“We appreciate the generosity of Austin FC, as well as sponsors like Swish Dental and Austin Eastciders, in funding two weeks of soccer camps for kids at the Y,” said Kathy Kuras, YMCA of Austin President & CEO. “We want to enable all kids to realize the benefits of playing sports. That’s why we provide financial assistance to any child or family who can’t afford the fee but wants to participate.”
The 40 girls and boys from low-income families had the opportunity to take the pitch and make new friends, all while experiencing the joys the beautiful game has to offer. Each camper also went home with a goody bag courtesy of Swish Dental. In addition, through Austin FC’s community ticket program, the campers also spent some time under the bright lights of Q2 stadium, attending Austin FC’s 3-2 win against Houston Dynamo FC in front of a sold-out crowd on Aug. 4.
“It’s been great to have this partnership with Austin FC and 4ATX Foundation because they’ve come out and helped to provide a wonderful camp for our kids at the YMCA,” Kuras said. “Any time that two organizations can come together and partner, we can do much more for our kids than what we can do on our own.”
4ATX Foundation is committed to providing opportunities for children to attend soccer camp each year, and Austin FC fans have the chance to help support the initiative moving forward. For every pint purchased at Austin Eastciders during an Austin FC match, Austin Eastciders will donate $1 to 4ATX Foundation to help provide more soccer camp scholarships.
A fun time was had by all and the Club is looking forward to providing another great experience next year.
