On Thursday, December 7, 4ATX Foundation and IGT invited 100 students from DeZavala Elementary School to Q2 Stadium to celebrate the end of a week-long equipment drive effort earlier this year. Gear collected during the equipment drive was donated to students from DeZavala Elementary to help eliminate barriers of play for young athletes in Central Texas.
āGetting to see students open boxes of brand-new soccer cleats and other gear is a special moment,ā said 4ATX Foundation Executive Director Kaitlin Mauro. āWeāre grateful to IGT for teaming up with us this holiday season, and to all the Austin FC fans who donated to make this event possible.ā
As part of the event, the students also enjoyed a tour of Q2 Stadium, had a pizza party, and received a brand-new pair of Adidas soccer cleats. DeZavala Elementary received donated gear from Austin FC fans to help other in-need students.
āIGT is proud to partner with 4ATX in their annual equipment drive,ā said IGT Account Development Manager Joe Lapinski. "This program affords youth the opportunity to experience not only the fun of soccer but the value of being a team player.ā
Austin FC forward Gyasi Zardes surprised the students by joining the tour to help distribute cleats. Students got the chance to meet and spend time with Zardes during their pizza party. Together, 4ATX Foundation and IGT donated over $11,000 worth of equipment to DeZavala Elementary.
