Austin FC Outlook
Austin FC tied 0-0 against Portland Timbers last Saturday evening, continuing the team’s unbeaten run for the fourth straight game and tallying the fourth clean sheet of the season. Austin created a couple of chances in the first half, with Myrto Uzuni coming closest on a header that went just wide of the post. Ultimately, neither team could break through.
Austin is currently sitting in fourth place in the MLS Western Conference. The VERDE & Black currently boast the best defense in the league, only conceding three (3) goals so far. The last time the two met at BC Place was in the 2024 season, ending in a 0-0 draw, with Austin’s defense playing a crucial role in walking away with a point.
The VERDE & Black have been promising on the road, winning both of their last two road games, and will be hungry to secure its first-ever victory in Vancouver this weekend.
Vancouver Whitecaps Outlook
Vancouver Whitecaps currently sit at the top of the table in the Western Conference with a record of 5-1-1. The Whitecaps’ sole loss so far in the season came against Chicago Fire FC last month at home.
In MLS play last weekend, Vancouver defeated Colorado Rapids at home 2-0. Both of the Whitecaps’ goals came in the first half of the match, and for the second time this season, Vancouver did not allow a single shot on goal. Vancouver faced Liga MX side Pumas UNAM in the CONCACAF Champions Cup on Wednesday night ending in a 2-2 draw and advancing on the away goal rule to the semifinals to face MLS side Inter Miami CF.
Top performers for Vancouver in 2025 include defender Tristan Blackmon and forward Brian White. Scoring first is likely to be key as both Austin and Vancouver are tied for a league-leading four clean sheets this year.
