Austin FC fell 1-0 against Portland Timbers Saturday night at Providence Park. Offseason signings Myrto Uzuni and Nico Dubersarsky made their MLS debuts in the match.

In what began as an even first half, both teams went in search of an opening goal. Portland came close early on, quickly shut down by a crucial save from Brad Stuver in the fifth minute of the match. Austin settled in with three (3) shots on goal of their own, including an excellent free kick effort by Brandon Vazquez, but the match remained scoreless at halftime.

In a combative second half, the Verde & Black continued to push in search of the first goal of the night. Ultimately, Portland broke through in the final minutes of the match claiming all three (3) points.
